The Local Community including members of the Gayton Community Club which is next to the pool, campaigned to replace the old pool, demolished by the Council, taking them to court and winning. Some campaigners even put their houses on the line to pay for the court case. The pool is run for the Council by a subsidiary of the Charitable Lonsdale Trust already operating the Lonsdale Pool in Mickleover. Popular former Gayton Manager Lynda Mangnall is Manager of the new facility. Lonsdale Trust are delighted to be operating this local community facility in support of our Charitable aims; there will be many hundreds of children learning to swim at the pool and sessions for all ages for health, fitness and leisure. If there are sessions that people in the local community would like to see put on then let us know, and if there is enough demand we will look to add them to the programme. There are children's swimming lessons every day after school and at weekends.
